Scoot Launches Pokémon Air Adventures On The Pickachu 787
Today, low-cost carrier Scoot has teamed up with The Pokémon Company to launch Pokémon Air Adventures flights, onboard the Pikachu Jet.
Commencing on September 9, Scoot will operate two scheduled flights per month, with the first destinations being Tokyo and Seoul. The Pikachu Jet is one of Scoots 20 Boeing B787 Dreamliners, which has a special Pokémon livery and is themed for the Pokémon Air Adventures project. After celebrating its first decade of flights, the partnership with The Pokémon Company (TPC) marks another milestone for Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. Scoot will be the first ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) airline to launch an exclusive livery as part of Pokémon Air Adventures.
Pikachu Jets BC1 and BC2 are already out there
Pokémon Air Adventures flights are not limited to Scoot, with two other Asian carriers already sporting a specially themed livery. Japan's low-cost carrier, Skymark Airlines is operating two, Picachu Jet BC1 and BC2. these two Boeing B737-800s are officially known as JA73AB and JA73NG respectively. BC2 launched on May 30, operating flight BC519 from Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) to Naha Airport (OKA). BC1 has been operating since June 2021 and has carried around 150,000 in its Pokémon colors.
China Airlines, the flag carrier of the Republic of China (Taiwan), announced on July 31 that it was launching Pikachu Jet C1, which will operate mainly in Asia, including flights between Taipei and Tokyo.
The B787-9 Dreamliner or Pikachu Jet has 35 seats in ScootPlus and 340 seats in economy, and hopefully enough room for all the Pokémons that will find their way onboard. Besides the designated Air Adventures flights, the aircraft will also be rostered on other routes operated by the B787-9 as part of regular airline operations. So for some Scoot passengers that could mean turning up for a regular flight and finding themselves on the Pikachu Jet, without a Pokémon to keep them company. Or perhaps the crew will be decked out as Pokémon characters, presenting selfie opportunities for their customers. Scoot CEO Leslie Thng said:
"At Scoot, we are constantly pushing boundaries to bring delight and a dose of Scootitude to our customers. Through this strategic partnership with TPC and hugely popular global franchise, we seek to engage our customers with unique travel experiences, creating unforgettable moments and memories while connecting them with much-loved destinations across our network."
Scoot has released the initial four Pokémon Air Adventures services. On September 9 flight TR808 will depart Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) at 01:10 and arrive at Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT) at 08:55. The return flight leaves NRT at 10:00 and lands in Singapore at 16:30. The second Tokyo flight is on October 19, operating with a slightly altered schedule. The flights to Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN) operate on September 22 and October 6, departing Singapore at 01:25 and returning at 15:35. Fares from Singapore - Tokyo and Singapore - Seoul start from S$333 ($243) and S$231 ($169) respectively (one-way, inclusive of taxes). As would be expected, there will be a new range of Pokémon collectibles exclusive to the partnership that can only be purchased onboard Scoot flights.
