DELTA IS ON THE WAY TO BUY 100 BOEING 737 MAX10
Boeing is in talks for a historic order for Delta Air Lines of up to 100 737 MAX10, says Reuters.
The deal, which has not been confirmed by either actor, would be Delta’s first order for Boeing’s best-selling single-aisle aircraft family, and Boeing’s first major order for the carrier in a decade. This comes at a time when Delta, the only major US carrier without a 737 MAX order, is reshaping its fleet in preparation for a rapid recovery from the pandemic.
The MAX 10 competes head-on with the A321neo, a flagship aircraft in the European aircraft manufacturer’s portfolio. These two rivals share a promising market share in a fast-growing segment, namely aircraft with a capacity just above 200 seats. Recall that, thanks to an additional order of 30 units in August 2021, Delta expects on the other hand the delivery of 155 A321neo.
This announcement comes at a time when Boeing is waging a separate but crucial battle to certify the MAX 10 before a new safety standard comes into effect at the end of the year.
